The reason I want to be God
has nothing to do with driving
the car of the universe or
canceling my own student loans.
It has nothing to do with lottery
stubs, sparrows in the field,
or the power of anti-lock brakes.
I've never been good with decisions
or names. The reason I want
to be God isn't because
he's everywhere or miracles.
I want to be God to hear
what other people pray for,
what my mother's heart is made
of, the words that never pass
the lips but say over and over.
And maybe he wants that, too.
For someone else to have to listen.
Harrogater LOVES this poem. Verily it speaketh to him.
