Title Request #10

You were a small thing.
Vessels. The tiny thrum
of your heart's beating, just
as my love began in you.
A small thing. A thought.

A hand laid of your new
head. Then, more small
things: your eyes focused,
you found your hands,
a chuckle. You reached

for me. Then, some things
a little bigger: you said
'light' as one came on
inside me, you pointed
to the moon as one

came on inside me.
You slept with your head
on my shoulder as a planet
of love's weight
dawned inside me.

And unlike the loves
that come and go, it
doesn't cool, but is
kindled, grows with your
bones, reaches new

heights with yours, into
something bigger inside
me. Then, like today,
it takes off, and runs.

  2. Son. Definitely. This one hits me in the gut each time I read it. It's just true.
